Food is Medicine
Food gives you energy and strengthens your immune system. We encounter these types of statements on a daily basis, through television commercials, newspapers, and magazine ads. What do all these statements mean? How does food accomplish all this and more? There are so many contradicting theories, studies, and opinions about how food affects our minds, bodies, emotions and overall wellbeing. Moving Stillness has a unique approach to this extremely important but often time’s very confusing and frustrating topic. These workshops help you to understand the concepts of wholeness, balance and "bio-individuality" as it relates to what your mind and body needs to function properly, stay healthy and thrive. We show you how and why healthy, delicious organic whole foods are critical to making this happen.
Since food is so critical to good health, the main focus of these workshops will be on incorporating delicious, healthy whole foods into your everyday diet in a way that meets your individual lifestyle. Studies and experience have shown us that one healthy lifestyle change can definitely make a positive difference but only to a point. "We are what we eat" but we also need to nourish ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically while managing day to day stress!!! Moving Stillness addresses these needs by including safe, gentle and rejuvenating qigong exercises as part of an overall holistic nutrition program that nurtures the various human aspects that make us who and what we are.
Each workshop will offer a delicate interplay between diet and nutrition education, meal preparation, qigong exercises for meditation and relaxation, stress management, effective food assimilation, digestion and elimination. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and prepared according to a different healthy dietary theme each workshop. Meals will be prepared a day before the workshop to allow students as much practice and learning time, during the workshop, as possible. Demonstrations of "health supportive cooking techniques" will be provided by the instructor to aid students in learning and comprehension. Participants will be provided recipes and nutritional profiles of each dish. Your instructor will provide step by step, hands on preparation.
