Silk Reeling, “The next step in the Evolution of Developing and Deepening Your Tai Chi Skills, (Three Day Silk Reeling Intensive) Practicing Silk Reeling teaches you to generate spiral force through your tai chi movements, patterns and forms to connect with and utilize the energy of the Snake and Crane to create flowing, beautiful movements of nature. When we move this way the energy we create permeates our bodies amplifying the healing effects and martial energy in our Tai Chi movements. This helps us move into the realm of embracing, flowing and becoming one with the all pervading, universal circle of Nature, the “Tao.”

This is a three day silk reeling intensive workshop. It is designed to put you on the path to a lifetime of tai chi wonder and discovery through experiencing the amazing gifts that silk reeling will bring to your tai chi skills, your health and your life! We will explore several different universal silk reeling patterns, (Silk Reeling Basics & Tai Chi Symbol Tracing Hands, Circle Embrace and Spirit of Snake and Crane Silk Reeling Patterns). All of these patterns can deepen and enhance the practice of any tai chi system. “Silk Reeling practice transcends style.”

Silk Reeling Basics & Tai Chi Symbol Tracing Hands: (June 21, 2019) This workshop begins with learning, understanding and applying silk reeling basics to tai chi movements and patterns. Tai Chi Symbol Tracing Hands Silk Reeling is based on the concept of cultivating, moving and expressing your qi through practicing the tracing of the tai chi symbol. Chen Style Tai Chi often uses this silk reeling practice to develop high levels of skill in their tai chi system. Any system of tai chi can greatly benefit from this silk reeling practice. Mentally, physically, and spiritually understanding the tai chi symbol can unlock the mysteries to the deepest and most profound understandings of the art of tai chi. Learning and applying the tai chi symbol tracing hands silk reeling to your tai chi practice is a key to this profound level of understanding.

The practice of tai chi is a process! It takes dedication, perseverance, patience, child like enthusiasm, beginner’s mind and an empty cup! It’s not about learning a lot of different forms. It’s about going deeper into the forms you know! If you’re ready for the next leg of this wonderful, endless journey, JOIN US!

“Embracing the Circle”: (June 22, 2019)

Embracing the Circle refers to “Embracing the totality of the moment and leading it to peacefulness or emptiness.” “We travel through the void, yin and yang, the five Elements, the 10,000 things then back to the void in an instant.” We go from form to formlessness, allowing our inner, interpretive, martial dance to reveal itself and harmonize our bodies, minds and spirits with the all pervading, Universal Circle of Nature. Silk Reeling unlocks the door to “Embracing the Circle.” Practicing the “Circle Embrace” Silk Reeling Pattern allows us to walk through the door. It is the outer circle that embraces the tai chi symbol.

“Snake and Crane”: (June 23, 2019)

Snake and Crane silk reeling practice helps you to connect with and bring the energy and spirit of the snake and crane into your movements to help you cultivate, fortify and refine your qi. We will use silk reeling’s foundational figure 8 pattern to explore the principles of leading with the dantien, body wave/ joint isolation and the whip principle to show you how to start, complete and move continuously through your horizontal body spiral. The integration of internal, external and spiritual principles and exercises can help you to achieve the level of "three plain movement", where every tai chi movement is, simultaneously, done on a physical, mental and spiritual plane. This was a goal the ancient tai chi masters had in store for us! This training will help put you on that path!
